DEVELOPMENT AND MANAGMENT OF COMMUNITY AND BELONGING

We’re looking for a talented Community Manager to join our data-driven, outcomes-focused team. Culturs has helped millions of cross-cultural in-betweeners feel like they belong, and this role will help us continue to broaden impact and reach while building a community that makes us all thrive.

Main responsibilities include project managing workflow for Ambassadors and affilliates, as well as management of internal and external communities. This position works closely with our editorial, team on planning, building, testing, and executing logistics, strategy and outcomes for our communities. It works closely with our social and design teams with visuals and digital assets and coordination and publishing. This includes working in tandem with our digital content (podcast, XOTV) and community building on social (website, social media, email) and heads of marketing and universities. You’ll also communicate with the internal team to answer questions and keep everyone informed as to external community progress. Strategizing and our community awards programme internally and externally to help us all uplift the brand.

Data-driven decision making with tracking and analysis of activity, audience growth, social and web campaigns and traffic built into published content and online store offerings is imperative. Each week the teams meet and provide brief reports to evaluate the efficacy of our content, PR, community development and marketing activities. The ideal person for this role has a mix of strategic thinking, systems thinking, logistics, creativity and relationship building backed solid planning and stellar execution.

Is This You?

  • 5+ years of professional experience
  • College degree in Education, Business, Humanities related fields
  • OR minimum 8 years demonstrable success in the field without a degree
  • Are part of the cross-cultural community
  • A strong technical aptitude with a knowledge of technologies and processes involved with WordPress, SEO, strategy, User experience, online and in-person community building (or a willingness to learn)
  • Experience in community content via email and a strong technical aptitude with a knowledge of technologies and processes involved marketing automation platforms and online stores (or willingness to learn)
  • Basic data analysis experience and a curiosity to learn more
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Strong relationship-building, networking and people skills
  • Strong storytelling and story development skill (or willingness to learn)
  • Working knowledge of WordPress, social media
  • Strong problem solving and critical-thinking capability
  • Ability to execute a project from start to finish independently, without being told what to do next

  • You thrive with big picture strategy thinking and also love rolling around in the details that create a plan to achieve goals and objectives.
  • You have a firm grasp of strategic planning, content calendars, and communication to your team so they can help you achieve goals with few “hair on fire” last minute asks

DUTIES:

  • Meaningfully engage with ambassador and affiliate applicants
    • Meet with them to gather their ideas for amplifying CULTURS to their communities (both on and offline).
    • Connect them to CULTURS resources and staff members.
    • Train them on our brand, values, standards, and goals.
    • Host a monthly gather event (online) of platinum and standard ambassadors
      • Themed (planned in advance)
      • Work with CULTURS social media team to develop a process for advertising, registration, and follow up (with the goal of increasing engagement: social media, sales, ambassadors, affiliates, etc.)
  • Meaningfully engage with CULTURS student orgs on university and college campuses 
    • Host a monthly gathering of CULTURS Campus Ambassadors to gather their ideas, support their activities, and encourage them to amplify CULTURS content (through our affiliate program) as a way to raise money to fund their activiites.
    • Work with VP of Universities regarding campuses enrolled and how to engage
    • Work with Marketing Director on Universities being prospected for group subscriptions
  • Meaningfully engage with partner groups
    • Work with social media team to create and/or coordinate customized content to cross-post.
    • Gather information about annual events and see where CULTURS staff can support, attend, and/or cover.
  • Create community spotlight content
    • Quarterly 2-page spread on the activities of community members related to CULTURS. Amplify their amazing work in order to entice others to engage with us and submit their own stories.
    • Customize the submission and selection process (based on existing systems)
  • Solicit and engage with in-person community activations
    • Using our Celebrations Dinners content, solicit participation for pop-up dinner parties with friends at home.
    • Schedule activities to support the event such as a follow along cooking class with participants.
  • Oversight of CultursCasa – 12 times or fewer per annum
    • Utilize Turno to easily manage service providers and communication
    • Oversee calendar at Airbnb to manage guest check-ins and communication
    • Use Culturs Amazon.com business account (with LastPass login) to add supplies to Casa inventory.
  • OVERSEE CULTURS EXPERIENCES INCLUDING
    • Creation of or management of events specifically created for the in-between community, like Culturs’ Alchemist awards, to begin as an event Late 2025 or early 2026.
      • Brainstorm with team categories for the world’s first multicultural award
      • Oversee platform to manage entries and create event online and offline for Alchemist Awards
    • Culturs Speakers Bureau
      • Providing university access to our many expert speakers, professors and storytellers
    • Culturs Journeys
      • Working with event planners and events around the globe (SXSW, SUNDANCE, CANNES LIONS, FIPP, NABJ, NAHJ, SERIES FEST, WORLD CUP, OLYMPICS) to create on-the-ground meetups and activations
      • Creating travel experiences around the world for local meetups using our Waybird presence
  • Use digital platforms for ease of work, including:
    • 17hats
    • EVESSIO
    • AIRBNB
    • TURNO
    • WAYBIRD
  • Achieve KPIs for each position 
  • Other duties as needed for each position

Sample ongoing activities:

-Work with Editorial, Social and Design teams on upcoming content ideas, planning and execution

-Work with editorial on community-focused creation of press releases ensure they’re distributed in targeted outlets on our PR Newswire contract each month, as well as featured on our website press page

-Ensure we are translating community content to print and web and working with Editorial and Art to repurpose content from/to podcast, video, social media, online, digital, “stories,” and newsletter and promoted through all Culturs outlets

-Weekly review of data analytics and regular strategizing to grow and nurture audience and audience engagement

-Work with editorial to distribute CultursTV and podcast offerings on the web and ensuring best practices are used for optimal reach, growth and community engagement

-Work with social team to focus on growing our written content communities through digital marketing of our varied content online and on social

-Oversight of creation and marketing of new community-focused Culturs strategies as you see fit with marketing director

-Firm knowledge of the Culturs brand, offerings, processes and upholding them
