My daughter and her friends had soccer tryouts coming up and they had wanted to make the varsity team for their school. They were very nervous and keep saying how many girls were trying out and that many girls would not even make the team.
They began to talk about who would make it and then question whether they would make the team. The three of them are terrific players and I was surprised at the level of doubt that began to build everyday. They were talking negatively to each other and out of any success.
I decided to write quotes of inspiration to my daughter to “get her pumped up” and trust in her ability. I told her to share these quotes with her friends if she wanted. I wrote special notes with smiley faces on napkins. She loved it and she shared them with her friends. They all started to tell me how they liked the notes and that they wanted more and for them as well.

Her one friend said, “Can you text us every morning and send us an inspirational message for the day? We will share with everyone at lunch and it will help us for the day!” I thought that was a wonderful idea and so I began writing and thinking up quotes for my daughter and her fabulous friends. I sent them to my other kids as well. I saw a remarkable difference in the girls’ attitudes and positive outlook toward schoolwork and tryouts.
All three made the varsity team! They believed they would make it and they did! They were passionate and focused on their dream (They helped each other as well). We are continuing this practice of staying positive, believing in yourself, settting goals high and being passionate. We all are expecting great outcomes for ourselves.
You can as well!
