It’s summertime and everyone wants to look their best, but why not have fun sweating it out? There are great ways to get a gorgeous summer bod and enjoy it.
I love to run but on hot humid summer days it’s hard to leave the pool and put on clothes to go run a few miles. Plus there are a lot of people out there who don’t understand why anyone would run if they are not being chased. So if this is you, sitting by the pool, hop in!
Swimming is great for your body, it works your entire body and a couple of laps in you’ll be tired. Most pools have a couple lanes reserved for laps or an ‘adult swim’ time. Those 15 minutes could be a great way to burn off some extra calories. Not into laps? Not a big deal, just get in the water and have fun! If you are playing a game or just hanging out with your besties try to tread water while doing it.
Biking is also a great workout and personally one of my favorite ways to pass the time. I remember when I was younger and I would always bike to the store, or to get ice cream or food with my friends or brothers. Another perk to biking besides the great workout that doesn’t feel like a workout is that is it great for travelers! There are so many bike rental places that it is so easy to find. Not only are there stores with bike rentals but now you can check out a bike like a book at the library or a DVD. So get out and bike to your fav lunch spot.
Besides biking, going for a hike is a great way to spend cool summer days. Grab a group of friends, or your family and lather up the sunscreen! If you are traveling or live in a place that is flatter than a pancake then go to a local park or trail, it doesn’t need to be immense terrain to have fun or to get a good workout in. Challenge your friends to race you to the top or a certain tree, take pictures at the top or on the way. Make it yours and make it fun!
The summer is yours to enjoy and to have fun! Don’t stress on exercise or staying in shape, because as much as we all would wish stress does not burn calories. Travel, whether its for business or pleasure and enjoy it. Get outside friends and family and burn some calories while making memories!
