A new movie, “Las Tres Sisters,” is coming out later this month that features three Mexican American sisters on a trek through Mexico in search of a miracle.

With their lives unraveling around them, Maria (played by Marta Méndez Cross), Sofia (played by Virginia Novello) and Lucia (played by Valeria Maldonado) reunite, after years of estrangement, to complete their beloved Grandmother’s pilgrimage through rural Mexico.

As the sisters grew up best friends in an unstable household, their “Abuelita” and the story of her famous pilgrimage was the only thing they could rely on as kids.

Now, as adults, a rift between Sofia and Lucia has split the three sisters apart. Maria, who has just discovered a she has breast cancer, reunites her sisters, in their grandmother’s honor, on a spiritual walk through Mexico.

With no hiking experience, limited cell phone reception and an old map, the sisters walk the sacred trail to Talpa de Allende, stumbling on a variety of characters who help them reconnect with each other and themselves. The magic of Mexico fills them with adventure and hope.

Yet, as Maria attempts to keep her secret, the tension between Sofia and Lucia takes a turn for the worse. With the help of Kin (played by “Ted Lasso” star Cristo Fernández), a local with a dark past, they must work together through their differences in order to reach the end and find their miracle.
