2013 was the 100th Anniversary of the Arena di Verona.
Even for people who are not heavily into opera, this is a spectacular event. The Arena is located in the heart of Verona, the home of Romeo and Juliette and close to other enchanting Italian vacation spots. This trip combines culture and romance.
This trip combines culture and romance.
For instance this event could easily be combined with the Tortellini Festival in Valeggio-sul-Mincio, which is only 28 km from Verona and takes place on June 17, 2014. From there it is a short drive to Lake Garda for a restful vacation.
Venice is only 117km /73miles from Verona by car or you can take the train. Milan is about 165 km from Verona where you could also visit the magical Lake Como area.

This is a very tantalizing offering. the photos make you see and taste it. What a wonderful story. I bet Opera even sounds better in this setting.
Thanks Carol! We’re glad you enjoyed it!!
What a wonderful offerings. It is very tantalizing. Makes you want to travel there. And I bet the Opera sounds better in this setting.
I love this article! i am traveling abroad this summer and this just made me soo much more excited. Getting a little taste of over seas life and I’m drooling!!
Enjoy your trip, Anna. It is an enticing area. So much to see and do.
Thank you Karynne for bringing back some wonderful memories! I would add Mantua to your list of breathtaking places. Its Palazzo Ducale and its historical centre are among the most beautiful Italian spots for art lovers. And when you are tired of walking on cobble stones and centuries old pavements stop for a chunk of Torta Sbrisolona (a crumbly pie made of almonds) and a glass of sweet wine.
Thank you Ilaria. I have not visited Mantua yet. I will put it on my long list of places to see and meanwhile will visit it virtually to get acquainted with this enchanting location.
