With pandemic restrictions easing in several countries, this Culturs TV Wednesday Energy Medicine Minute comes from Comic-Con in San Diego, Calif., where Culturs expert Dondi Dahlin offers a technique designed to help bring a sense of calm to your day.
Meridians
Meridians are streams of energy on the body. By holding certain points along these “rivers,” you can enact grounding change within your energy systems. An animated and fearful figure dances behind Dondi as she asks, “Do you ever feel overwhelmed?”
Good thing there is something we can do to calm that overwhelm.
Cross your arms
She continues, “All you have to do is cross your arms!” Crossing the arms to the opposite side of your chest will help coordinate the right and left hemispheres of your brain. This makes it more available to stay “online” during the fight, flight or freeze response.
Begin this technique by placing the angle of your hand (between your thumb and first finger) directly in the notch between your chest and under your arm. This will allow your thumbs to rest naturally on a Lung meridian point. The remaining fingers cover the underarm area where Heart and Spleen meridians traverse.
Breathe to calm
Once your arms are crossed, hold this position for a count of three to five deep, cleansing breaths. This will help you come back to center, breathe deeper, and metabolize food and emotions. Feel the tension roll off your body as your shoulders drop and your breath evens out.
