As international mobile people, TCKs have more opportunities than some to attend some of the world’s best live music. With festival season upon us, you might want to check out your summer travel plans to see if you can attend any these wondrous festivals.
1.Coachella (April 15 -24) – Held in Indio, California, Coachella is one of the world’s biggest music and arts festival that occurs over two weekends in April. According to Billboard, there were approximately 193,000 people in attendance last year alone. So grab your tickets, and head to see some the top international artists in music such as Calvin Harris, Ellie Goulding, and Flume.
2. Sónar (June 16th – 18th) Created in 1994, Sónar is held in Barcelona, Spain, and it is the country’s premier electronic music festival. Sónar’s founding values are based on the connection between technology and creativity. The festival has now grown to an international event in over 50 different parts of the world. Past lineups have included A$AP Rocky, Flying Lotus, and FKA Twigs.
3.Glastonbury (June 22 – 26) Founded in 1971, Glastonbury Festival started on Worthy Farm in the United Kingdom. As the UK’s largest and longest running music festival, Glastonbury draws in attendees from all over the world. Headliners for this year’s festival include Adele, Coldplay , and CHVRCHES.
4. Mawazine (May 20 – 28) Created to promoting openness to cultures by a musical journey to other part of the world, Mawazine Festival has been held for 11 straight years in Rabat, Morocco. It has become one of the most buzz-worthy festivals in Africa. Headliners that have featured are big name artists such as Pitbull, Rihanna, and Shakira.
5. Rock al Parque (July 2-4) Considered the largest rock festival in Colombia, Rock al Parque has been held in Bogota since 2005. It includes genres of rock music such as punk, hardcore metal, and ska. Headliners in the past have included big rock names such as KISS, Coheed and Cambria, and Paradise Lost.
