While we’re all the same on this wonderful planet of ours, there are still some things we do differently depending on where we are.

For instance, people from certain countries tend to have different decor than others and the food we eat generally varies. There are also other cultural differences, but they all ultimately contribute to a rich, multicultural society full of variation that beautifully intertwines. It’s what makes the world such a special place.

Video gaming showcases different cultures to mass audiences

Over the years, video gaming has particularly helped to highlight many different cultures and their unique ways of living. Not only do these games provide fun and entertainment, but they also educate and inspire.

Some titles shine a light on Indian cuisine and African life, while there are releases that showcase major capital cities like London and the strong cafe culture in desirable locations like Melbourne.

Of course, gaming’s main package revolves around racing cars at high speeds in games like “Gran Turismo 7” and scoring goals with world-class operators in EA Sports’ “FC 25,” but some titles also enable gaming audiences to learn about different cultures, how they do things and what life entails in certain foreign territories. They’re powerful products in more ways than one.

With that in mind, below is a look at just a few titles that have managed to showcase certain cultures.

Sleeping Dogs features Asian Americans in an undoubted masterpiece

When assessing the various cultures that tend to be featured in leading video games, Asian Americans aren’t always prominent. In fact, they’re most definitely underrepresented.

As such, titles like Sleeping Dogs were refreshing to play for many members of the gaming community. This open-world crime game isn’t always serious and contains plenty of comical value, but it’s supplemented by a strong Asian American presence thanks to the game’s Hong Kong setting.

Throw in the fact that it was clearly inspired by 1980’s Chinese action movies and there are numerous features from both Chinese and American cultures throughout. It’s a top video game in more ways than one.

Playing leading McLuck games like Chilli Heat Megaways is a Mexican-themed treat

On almost every corner of the globe, people are currently playing leading McLuck games like Chilli Heat Megaways. This game, plus titles like 3 Hot Chillies and Chilli Bandits, features the quaint Mexican townspeople see in the movies, alongside exhibiting the nation’s spicy cuisine.

After all, Mexican food is devoured all around the world, but not everyone munches on authentic grub in a Mexican setting. These games and more highlight what the country’s famous food is all about while also making sure the nation’s beloved chili pepper is under the spotlight.

‘The Sims 4’ Has a Diverse Range of People

Throughout the history of gaming, we’ve mainly seen white people living the supposed dream life in suburban neighborhoods. Things are changing, though, as “The Sims 4” highlights.

In this one, a diverse cast of characters makes the game even more appealing. A title that has been a cultural mirror for decades, the latest installment from the series allows people to create characters with a whole host of different features, particularly around their ethnicity, sexuality and even their gender. A game where societal issues don’t tend to surface but instead highlight how we can all live together as one, “The Sims 4” is a fantastic video game.

Special mention must also go to the “Yakuza” series, which highlights Japanese urban living; “Assassin’s Creed Odyssey,” a title featuring ancient Greece, and “Papo & Yo,” a game that reflects the struggles in Brazil’s favelas.
