Looking forward to the upcoming International Emmy Awards on November 24th, nominations are being announced, and Britain is taking the lead with six total nominations. Among the nominees are Stephen Dillane and Olivia Colman for best actor and actress in their roles as detectives in a popular crime series.
Stephen Dillane is being recognized for his role as a detective in the series The Tunnel, a British/french crime drama. The show was filmed on location in Kent, England and Northern France.
Dillane was born to an English mother and an Australian father. He started out as a theatrical actor where he performed in plays such as Hamlet, Macbeth, and The Real Thing. He earned a Tony award in 2000 for his performance in The Real Thing. Not long after getting into on-screen acting, Dillane landed the lead role in The Tunnel. The show is an adaptation of the series The Bridge, though it is still praised for its originality. One critic, Alex Fletcher of Digital Spy said that, “while remakes are often underwhelming, The Tunnel was gripping stuff, and viewers should find plenty to enjoy in the show.”
Olivia Colman is also being recognized for her role as a detective in a different show. Broadchurch is also a British crime drama, and it was shown in the United States by BBC America. A remake of the show called Gracepoint was also created for U.S audiences. The series won Coleman an award for best actress at the British Academy Television Awards, and got her nominated for Best performance by an actress at the upcoming International Emmys.
Colman was born in Norwich, Norfolk, England. Her television career jump started in 2000, and she has since become very successful in her career and has appeared in several films, television programs, and also on many radio programs.

I absolutely love the Emmys and the Oscars so when this year it seemed to be a British Invasion at these awards show, I couldn’t help but read this article. I liked that you included a link so that I could see the other nominees as well.Â
