Third Culture Kid Expert Myra Dumapias, currently based in San Antonio is the Chief Executive Officer of TCKidNOW (Third Culture Kids Navigating Our Worlds)*, formerly TCKid. TCKid was featured on the BBC, ABC News, The Telegraph, the U.S. Department of Defense and Education Week, and helped thousands of TCKs discover their TCK identity and find a sense of belonging long before there was other mention of the term on social media. Dumapias transformed TCKid into a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that provides trauma-informed educational outreach about the lifetime impact of a transnational upbringing. While acknowledging the role healing plays in helping TCKs recognize and develop their skills, TCKidNOW fosters connections that not only help TCKs find a sense of belonging, but give back to the world they grew up in. Myra’s writing has been published in disOrient Journalzine and other anthologies and chapbooks such as “Freeze Dried” and the “Our Path to Follow” series, as well as Among Worlds, Expat Philippines and other magazines. She has read in various festivals, universities, bookstores and other venues and curated poetry and prose readings in Los Angeles. Myra has a Bachelor’s in English and World Literature and a Master’s in Social Work.
