Trini women tend to carry themselves with an air of confidence.  You kind of need it to carry off multiple characteristics in a society that tends to not know how to characterise you.  Are you Black?  White?  Indian?

A cousin of mine once had a doctor comment to her, while giving birth to her third child, “What are we going to have today? It’s like the United Nations up there!”

Then there is the ethnicity portion on forms.  Why is it the only option we have is “other?”

I’m not an “Other,” I’m a proud Caribbean woman.
