A new, cross-cultural animated short film titled “MMANWU” is in preproduction and is being crowdfunded.

The movie is a passion project and love letter to Igbo-Nigerian culture created by artist and filmmaker Uzo Ngwu. It’s about a Nigerian-American teen who returns to Nigeria for a family funeral, where her mourning is interrupted when she suspects she’s being followed.

Set in modern day Nigeria, this film mixes magical realism and horror/thriller to explore themes such as spirituality, grief and cross-cultural understanding.

You can check out the crowdfunding page on ko-fi.com.
