If you went up to someone having lunch and asked them what Cinco de Mayo meant, I am sure they would tell you it is Mexico’s independence day. Many people tend to believe it is about Mexico’s independence, when instead it is about their victory at the Battle of Puebla. Mexico gained great victory from the French under the rule of Napoleon. Cinco de Mayo has become a celebration of this victory in Mexico as well as America and Canada.
That’s an ininegous way of thinking about it.
